Sage Creek proudly offers a series of new programs designed to reconnect individuals with our wild and outdoor spaces.
At Sage Creek, we live and learn on the traditional lands of the Cree and Metis people. We acknowledge their presence on our prairie landscape in Treaty Four Territory and celebrate our past and present connections to the land and what it teaches us about food security, balance and resilience. As a science and outdoor education teacher in the public sector for more than two decades, I am dedicated to bringing everyone the opportunity to teach, play and learn outside. With degrees in both Biology and Education, and trained in both Forest School and National Geographic teaching and learning styles, I hope to combines my passion for nature with our beautiful wild Saskatchewan prairie to make each session at Sage Creek a memorable one.
"When a person spends time outside and is allowed to experience nature, there are so moments which can inspire the beginnings of something incredible. By navigating risk, making social connections, and learning mindfulness, we learn more about ourselves and our connection to nature."
Join us for a session in 2024, and see how we do things differently!
Humans are hard-wired to be in nature, and we thrive when we are outside enjoying our wild and natural spaces. Our goal is to provide safe and skill-appropriate opportunities for all of our learners to reconnect with nature. Resiliency, mindfulness, conservation and food security were top on our list this season; have a look at our video to catch the highlights of a very busy season!
This is what we were up to in 2023!
Our outdoor spaces are absolutely incredible! A short walk down through the native prairie ends in a treed coulee where our permanent classrooms are located. With a fire circle, fully-stocked camp kitchen, composting toilet, reading tent, and large trail system, our rugged space is perfectly designed to accommodate small children, teens, adults, and groups of various sizes. Our brand new food forest produced a wonderful bounty this year, and we are looking forward to harvesting more locally-produced food (and hopefully more fresh honey) from our new hives next year! We also travel to unique spaces in and around the Swift Current area, and can create programming to suit schools, groups, and special occasions.
Our adventures are planned and led by dedicated and experienced nature lovers. Using a mix of biology, environmental science, outdoor education, Forest School Principles, and a whole lot of fun, they make it possible for everyone to reconnect with the outdoors.
Welcome to SW Saskatchewan's newest outdoor school and nature program!
