At Sage Creek, we live and learn on the traditional lands of the Cree and Metis people. We acknowledge their enduring presence on Treaty Four Territory and celebrate together our past and present connections to the land and what it teaches us about balance, food security, and resilience.

About Us
A Message from Kristen Simonson, Director and Lead Educator
We've never needed time outside like we do now; our mental health, our social/physical/psychological development as humans, and our connections to land depend on increased opportunities to spend time in nature. Screens and AI-generated material don't replace our connections to nature, and the more detached society becomes to the natural world, the harder it is to re-engage.
As a biology, environmental science and outdoor education teacher for more than 25 years, I am dedicated to bringing opportunities to teach, play, learn and grow outside. With degrees in both Biology and Education and trained in Forest School, National Geographic Education, bushcraft and remote first aid, I hope to combine my passion for nature with our beautiful wild Saskatchewan prairie to make each session at Sage Creek a memorable one. By reengaging with our land, we reestablish our relationships with it and refocus on living with nature instead of dominating it.

A Look Back at Our Fifth Season
Our goal for this season was to increase our connections to land, and we accomplished that and so much more! Our prairie became protected, we increased our reach to more people with more kinds of programming, and we even won a big award in our community. Have a look at our video to catch the highlights of a very busy season.

Beautiful Spaces
Our outdoor spaces are absolutely incredible! A short walk down through the native prairie ends in a treed coulee where our permanent classrooms are located. With our forest school classroom, fire circle, fully-stocked camp kitchen, composting toilet, and large trail system, our rugged space is perfectly designed to accommodate small children, teens, adults, and groups of various sizes. Our brand new greenhouse will be the site of even more programming in 2026 as we continue to promote local food sourcing and food security. We also travel to unique spaces in and around the Swift Current area, and can create programming to suit schools, groups, and special occasions.
